Minister Tito Asks Regional Heads To Anticipate Inflation Ahead Of Ramadan

JAKARTA Two problems or the cause of inflation in an area. First, the lack of supply of goods and the second is a surge in demand in the community. Especially in the month of Ramadan, inflation has the potential. Therefore, the Indonesian Minister of Home Affairs (Mendagri) Tito Karnavian asked governors, regents and mayors in the country to anticipate inflation ahead of Ramadan 1445 Hijriah.

"I ask regional heads to immediately work to suppress areas with high inflation and are registered in the Central Statistics Agency and at the Ministry of Home Affairs," said Indonesian Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian, quoted from Antara Sunday, February 3.

During Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr, usually some basic necessities, such as rice, chicken meat, eggs and so on will soar. Therefore, every regional head is asked to be aware of it.

"Be alert immediately and immediately add supplies. Then, the distribution must also run smoothly," the Minister of Home Affairs reminded.

The Minister of Home Affairs, who acted as the leader of the ceremony at the 74th Anniversary of the Satpol PP and the 62nd National Satlinmas, emphasized that Satpol PP has an important role in helping law enforcement officials prevent hoarding of goods.

Separately, the Head of the Central Statistics Agency of West Sumatra, Sugeng Arianto, said that inflation in Ranah Minang in February 2024, which reached 3.32 percent year on year (yoy), occurred due to an increase in a number of expenditure group indexes.

"This inflation was due to an increase in the price of the expenditure index for food, beverage and tobacco groups by 6.84 percent," said Sugeng Arianto.

Other groups that also triggered inflation were clothes and footwear at 2.01 percent, housing, water, electricity and household fuel groups at 1.65 percent.

Furthermore, the group of equipment, equipment and routine household maintenance contributed 0.59 percent of inflation, 2.88 percent of health, 1.39 percent of transportation, information, communication, and 0.07 percent of financial services.
