BANDUNG - Minister of Defense (Menhan) Prabowo Subianto emphasized his commitment to bring Indonesia to self-sufficiency in renewable energy sourced from plants such as palm oil, sugar cane to cassava that thrives in the country.

"Later, we will no longer take oil from the ground, gas from the ground runs out, as long as there is sun and as long as it rains, every year we can harvest diesel (surya), many countries are jealous of Indonesia," Prabowo said in a scientific oration during the National University of the Republic of Indonesia (UKRI) Graduation in Bandung, West Java, reported by ANTARA, Thursday, February 29.

He said renewable energy sourced from plants is very good because it does not make pollution while reducing Indonesia's dependence on fossil energy that is not environmentally friendly.

"We will be green energy and we will be self-sufficient in gasoline energy, where did we come from? From ethanol, where did ethanol come from? From sugar cane and cassava," he said.

Prabowo said that in the next few years, Indonesia will be able to change all biodiesel fuel made from palm oil which aims to stop imports of fuel from abroad.

"We can already make B100, meaning biodiesel from 100 percent palm oil. Can we imagine it or not? We will no longer import diesel from abroad, because we have production of palm oil now 48 million tons," he said.

Prabowo is optimistic that Indonesia can achieve self-sufficiency in renewable energy in a relatively short time, and become an example for other countries in terms of the transition to clean and sustainable energy.

"This means that later our fuel will be environmentally friendly, there will be no pollution and renewable," said Prabowo.

To achieve all of this, according to Prabowo, Indonesia needs young people who are tough, smart, and smart in order to process the wealth of natural resources they have to realize Indonesia's vision as an independent country in terms of renewable energy.

"For a brilliant future, we need leaders who are smart, intelligent, brave, and love our homeland and because we love our homeland, we don't want to continue corrupt practices. The key is that," he said.
