Junior High School Students Disappeared In Sunter River Current While Swimming With Two Of Their Friends

JAKARTA - Rafi Aditya, a junior high school student, a resident of Gang Damai, Pulogadung, East Jakarta, has drowned due to being swept away by the current of the Sunter River, Jalan Kayu Mas Utara, Pulo Gadung, East Jakarta, Thursday morning, February 29.

The 13-year-old boy was reported missing from drowning at 09.00 WIB. As of 13.20 WIB, the victim is still being searched by the joint SAR Team at the location.

"One person drowned. The victim swam in the Sunter river with two friends. Then suddenly the victim was dragged by a strong current and drowned, unable to be helped," said Head of BPBD DKI Jakarta, Isnawa Adji when confirmed by VOI.

The search for victims is carried out by a joint SAR team consisting of 1 fire department, 1 BPBD TRC unit, 1 Satpol PP unit, 1 PPSU unit, village personnel, Koramil personnel and Polsek personnel.

"The victim is still being searched," he said.

Meanwhile, from VOI's observation at the scene, as many as 3 rubber boats were deployed in Sunter River, Jalan Kayu Mas Utara, Pulo Gadung Village, Pulo Gadung District.

Officers are still searching using rubber boats along the river. Local residents also visited the scene and assisted in the search process.

"There was information that the victim was seen at the Pioneer Sluice Gate, Kelapa Gading. But after checking it turned out to be nil," said Rangga, a resident of Kayu Mas at the location to VOI.
