Jokowi Signs Presidential Decree For The Establishment Of The PPO-PPA Directorate, National Police Chief: Still In The Harmonization Stage

JAKARTA - National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo said that the formation of the Directorate for the Protection of Women and Children (PPA) and the Bareskrim Trafficking Crime (PPO) had entered the harmonization stage.

The establishment of the directorate officially began after President Joko Widodo or Jokowi signed Presidential Regulation (perpres) number 20 of 2024 concerning the Third Amendment to Presidential Decree Number 52 of 2010 concerning the Organizational Structure and Work Procedure of the Indonesian National Police.

"Currently, apart from the Presidential Decree related to the PPO Directorate, which we are fighting for has been completed, we are conducting harmonization," Sigit told reporters, Thursday, February 29.

However, it was not conveyed in detail the context of the harmonization stage in question. It is only conveyed that the formation of the new directorate is expected to provide special services to the community.

"Everything we do to really be able to provide the best service to the community, especially people who have not received special attention and services," said Sigit.

Previously, Assistant Chief of the National Police for Human Resources (US HR) Inspector General Dedi Prasetyo said the process of establishing the Directorate for the Protection of Women and Children (PPA) and the Crime of Trafficking in Bareskrim was already at the stage of drafting police regulations or Perpol.

"Seraya will follow up with the preparation of the fifth amendment perpol to the SoTK Perkap at the National Police Headquarters level," said Dedi.

Dedi explained that the change perpol prepared by Srena Polri was the fifth amendment to the National Police Chief Regulation Number 6 of 2017 concerning Organizational and Work Procedures (SOTK) at the National Police Headquarters Level.

The Perpol contains SOTK and a list of personnel arrangements (DSP) which will later go through harmonization with the Ministry of Administrative Reform and Bureaucratic Reform and also involve the Ministry of Finance regarding the budget for approval of the number of structures under it.

"Then together with the Legal Division, they submitted a Perpol to the Ministry of Law and Human Rights. Later, after the issuance of the Perpol, SSDM will only follow up," said Dedi.
