The General Election Commission of Karawang Regency, West Java, has disabled two members of the Pakisjaya District Election Committee (PPK) following allegations of inflating votes to a district legislative candidate.
Chairman of the General Election Commission (KPU) of Karawang Regency, Mari Fitriana, said that his party had summoned the Pakisjaya PPK ranks for clarification related to the polemic of alleged inflating votes.
From the results of the clarification, two members of PPK Pakisjaya admitted that they had changed their votes on certain legislative candidates. The two people include the chairman and division of the Pakisjaya PPK parmas.
"After clarification, we discussed it at the KPU internal plenary meeting, and finally it was decided that the two members of the Pakisjaya PPK were disabled," he said.

According to him, the decision to deactivate the two members of the Pakisjaya PPK was stated in the KPU Decree (SK) of Karawang Regency Number 1204 of 2024.
"For the next process, we have formed an inspection team, so a trial will be held to examine the alleged violation of the code of ethics against the two people, for further investigation and handling," he said.
For this incident, Mari said that the PPK ranks should not make mistakes like PPK Pakisjaya. Meanwhile, if a similar case is found later, it will not hesitate to take firm action.
"So we hope this will be a valuable lesson for other PPKs, that problems like this of course the KPU will not remain silent, and we will act decisively in accordance with applicable procedures," he said.
