JAKARTA - Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, Ambassador Arif Havas Oegroseno discussed the improvement of economic relations when receiving the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Panama Carlos Arturo Hoyos at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Indonesia, Jakarta.

The meeting discussed efforts to strengthen bilateral relations between Indonesia and Panama, mainly in the economic, trade and investment sectors, quoted from the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Wednesday (5/8).

The two foreign ministers discussed the history of foreign politics and the vital role of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), especially the support of NAM which helped Panama diplomacy to restore full sovereignty over the Panama Canal.

As part of efforts to bring closer the relationship between business actors of the two countries, the Indonesian Minister of Foreign Affairs invited Panamanian businessmen to participate in the INA-LAC 2026 event which will take place in Santiago, Chile on October 1-2, 2026.

In turn, Minister of Foreign Affairs Hoyos invited Indonesian business actors to attend The 3rd International Economic Forum Latin America and the Caribbean/CAF (January 2027) and Expocomer ke-43 (April 2027).

All of these events are considered strategic for Indonesia in terms of business expansion to Caribbean and Latin American countries.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Havas also welcomed Panama's invitation to Indonesian business actors to take advantage of business opportunities from cooperation between Panama and Guyana to make Panama a logistical hub.

During the meeting held on July 30, Wamenlu Hoyos was accompanied by the Ambassador of Panama to Indonesia Bernardo Brea Rodríguez and the Director of the Asia-Pacific Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Panama Carlos Karica.
