President-Cawapres Candidates Asked Not To Spread Negative Narratives About Quick Count, Alleged Fraud In Legal Paths

JAKARTA - The Main Researcher of the Political Research Center of the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), Firman Noor, appealed to the 2024 General Election participants not to spread negative narratives regarding the unfavorable quick count results.

Firman explained that all parties must encourage the creation of a safe and comfortable atmosphere after the voting process on February 14, by not heating up the atmosphere through the spread of narratives that provoke controversy in the community.

"There is no need to panic, get angry, and be diligent in preparing evidence if there are allegations of fraud," said Firman, quoted by ANTARA, Monday, February 19.

He explained that all legislative election participants (pileg) and presidential and vice presidential elections (pilpres) do not need to narrate bad things about quick count activities carried out by survey institutions.

According to him, if the election participants find irregularities or allegations of fraud, then please take elegant methods, namely through legal channels in accordance with applicable laws.

This method is important as part of political education to the public, so that the results will be more acceptable to many parties.

"Preparing evidence in court or taking legal action, so that all issues can be open in cases or chronology," said the senior researcher.

Firman also appealed that all parties remain waiting for the vote count from the General Election Commission (KPU) to be completed, especially the results of the presidential election, so there is no need to be caught up in the turmoil of unconstructive debates regarding who is the winner.
