Died While Counting Votes, Head Of KPPS TPS 70 North Rawabadak Asked For A Moment Of Rest

Chairman of KPPS TPS 70 North Rawabadak Iyos Rusli, who died while carrying out his duties, was said to be in an unhealthy condition. This was conveyed by the Acting Chairman of the General Election Commission (KPU) of North Jakarta, Abie Maharullah Madangiri.

"We received information from the KPPS there that the person concerned was indeed unwell and had asked permission to rest while on duty," said Abie Maharullah, quoted from Antara, Thursday, February 15.

He said Iyos Rusli died on Wednesday night while leading the vote count.

"This is certainly something that is not desirable and we are deeply saddened by this incident," he said.

Arie explained that in the recruitment of a polling group (KPPS), the KPU had imposed a maximum age limit for 55-year-old officers and had to go through a very strict health check.

"We have also collaborated with the North Jakarta City Government to provide vitamin officers for immune-boosting supplements in carrying out their duties," he said.

He admitted that the heavy rain conditions that caused flooding in a number of locations in North Jakarta had delayed the voting schedule. This, he continued, had an impact on the late count schedule.

"Last night the officers were still busy doing vote count so this affected the physical condition on duty since Tuesday night," he said

Previously, the Head of the Voting Organizing Group (KPPS) for polling stations (TPS) Number 70 of North Rawa Badak Village, Iyos Rusli died while carrying out the task of counting votes on Wednesday, February 14 evening.

"Yes, we have already visited the funeral home," said Central Jakarta Metro Police Chief Kombes Pol. Gidion Arif Setyawan.

He said a report from the Koja Police Chief Muhammad Syahroni Iyos Rusli (50) died while carrying out his duties at the TPS.

He was reading and calculating ballots and suddenly felt unwell and then said goodbye.

He said that when he arrived at his house on Jalan Rawabbinangun VIII, Rawa Badak Utara Village, Koja District, North Jakarta, the victim immediately fainted.

Related to this, Bhabinkamtibmas, Rawa Badak Utara Village, Aipda Sigit Kamseno, took the initiative to call a doctor.

"After checking, the doctor said that Iyos Rusli had died," he said.
