KEDIRI - The Class IIA Penitentiary (Lapas) Kediri, East Java, recorded 50 inmates (prisoners) or inmates who were forced not to use voting rights at the 2024 General Election polling stations (TPS).

"At the last few seconds we have submitted data to the KPU and Dispendukcapil but until the D day of this voting, it turns out that there has been no decision. The newly entered inmates cannot distribute their voting rights," said Acting Head of Kediri Prison Budi Ruswanto, Thursday, February 15.

Budi explained that the inmates could not use their voting rights because they had just entered the prison after the additional transfer list data collection (DPTb) had been completed.

As a result, the 50 inmates were unable to take care of their identity cards (KTP) and had not been able to participate in this election.

He revealed that the number of prisoners who were able to channel their voting rights in the Kediri prison area was 854 people. There are three special polling stations in this prison to accommodate votes for prisoners, namely TPS 901, TPS 902 and TPS 903.

For those on duty, Budi explained that the polling organization (KPPS) involved prison officers. Meanwhile, Linmas officers who are part of the KPPS involve residents of Mojoroto Village and supervisors from Bawaslu.

"We, the officers of the Kediri Prison, continue to assist in the process of carrying out activities in order to facilitate voting and vote counting," he explained.
