Cianjur ASN Wins DPRD Candidates, Evidence Of Money Envelopes And Specimens Of Voice Letters Pocketed By Bawaslu

JABAR - The General Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) of Cianjur Regency is investigating the case of the state civil apparatus (ASN) being caught red-handed carrying out money politics to win a candidate for legislature (caleg) of the Cianjur DPRD in the 2024 election.

The Coordinator of the Cianjur ASN Division for Handling Violations and Information Data, Yana Sopyan, said that the ASN with the initials OS was assigned to Karangtengah District, Cianjur. OS is known to be a volunteer team for a Cianjur DPRD candidate.

"We are still exploring his role as a volunteer candidate from one of the political parties. The person concerned as an ASN should not be involved in practical politics and must be neutral according to the rules," he said in Cianjur, Tuesday, February 13.

Yana said that the Cianjur Bawaslu was still investigating the arrest of the ASN even though they had obtained evidence in the form of envelopes containing money and ballot specimens. Bawaslu still collects other evidence to complete the formal element.

"We are still collecting all evidence and information to fulfill formal elements, such as reporters, reported parties, evidence, chronology, and others. We will conduct a quick examination of the alleged money politics to win a candidate for the Cianjur DPRD," he said.

Yana added that the ASN at the Karangtengah District Office with the initials OS was tasked with preparing envelopes containing money and ballot specimens to win election participants.

Police officers arrested OS at his house along with evidence of envelopes containing money and ballot specimens. The amount of envelopes and the nominal amount of money inside is still unknown because the two pieces of evidence are stored separately.

"The suspect was immediately taken to the Cianjur Police Headquarters, then taken to the Cianjur Bawaslu for further questioning," said Yana.
