SPIN Survey: Prabowo-Gibran Electability 54.8 Percent, Many People Want 1 Round Election

JAKARTA - Executive Director of Survey and Polling Indonesia (SPIN), Igor Dirgantara, released the results of his latest survey to photograph how the potential for the 2024 General Election will take place on February 14, 2024.

One aspect recorded by SPIN is whether the public wants the 2024 General Election to take place in one round or two rounds,

From the data obtained, Igor said that the majority of them wanted only one round of the 2024 election to run. Where those who wanted the one round election to be 80.7 percent. While those who disagree only 16.6 percent. Then the 2.7 percent did not answer.

"The public who answered that they agreed came from the voters of the three pairs of candidates who were competing," said Igor in his survey release, Friday, February 9.

Then, from the survey data, it is also that the majority of respondents have become loyal voters, which means that the current choice will likely not change until the seconds of voting at the polling station.

It was seen that respondents who said they would not change their political support were very large, namely 82 percent. While the voting swing was 15.9%. Then there was 2.1 percent who did not answer.

So what about the opportunity for presidential and vice presidential candidates who are currently competing in the 2024 presidential election. From the data obtained, 54.8 percent of respondents chose Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka as President and Vice President in the voting process on February 14, 2024.

"The electability of the candidate pair number 02 Prabowo-Gibran is increasingly unstoppable. 54.8 percent have made their choice to the Prabowo-Gibran candidate pair," explained Igor.

Meanwhile, for the second position, there is candidate pair number 01, namely Anies Rasyid Baswedan, who is paired with Abdul Muhaimin Iskandar alias Cak Imin. Their score is 24.3 percent.

While in third place there is candidate pair number 03, namely Ganjar Pranowo and Prof Mohammad Mahfud MD. They are in position at 16.1 percent. While the undecidend voters were still 4.8 percent.

With a very high percentage disparity between candidate pair 01 and 02, Igor considered that Prabowo Gibran's chance of winning the 2024 presidential election would be achieved.

"Prebowo-Gibran's electability gap with two other candidate pairs is very large. So that if all undecidend votes are added to the two candidate pairs, they will no longer be able to shift the claim of victory from the Prabowo-Gibran candidate pair in the 2024 election," he said.

Just so you know, the survey was conducted in the period of 5 - 8 February 2024 using the random digit dialing method and using questionnaire assistance carried out by trained surveyors.

In sampling, SPIN involved 1,200 respondents in 34 provinces throughout Indonesia. As a result, the margin of error (MoE) is approximately 2.8 percent with a confidence level of 95 percent.
