SBY And Honoris Causa Doctoral Degree From North Universiti Malaysia In Today's Memory, 19 December 2012

JAKARTA Memories of today, 12 years ago, December 19, 2012, President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) received the honorary Honoris Causa doctorate award for peace leader from North Universiti Malaysia. The award was given because of his role in maintaining peace.

Previously, SBY was not only a leader who relied solely on domestic politics. In fact, SBY often actively moves to launch his foreign politics. He acts as a leader who upholds peace.

Foreign politics has an important portion for the existence of the nation and state. The power of foreign politics is able to make Indonesia proud in all kinds of international celebrations. Take for example in the Soekarno government era.

Gaung Bung Karno, who is friendly with world leaders, brings great benefits to Indonesia development to politics. Indonesia's desire to maintain world peace can run smoothly, and even get great support.

The same condition was tried in the era of President SBY's administration. He didn't want to be called a home champion. SBY tries to advance foreign politics as a tool to maintain world peace. This desire made SBY actively involved in international celebrations.

He also often goes to ASEAN countries that clash with accommodating peace. The peace mission for him was nothing new. He before the presidency was a senior military official who participated in the Peace Keeping Mission PBB in Bosnia.

He also ended the armed conflict in Aceh, and he had resolved the residual problems of conflict with Timor Leste. He wants ASEAN to live in one vision, identity, and community. The goal is that peace affairs in the ASEAN region become a shared responsibility.

In the Southeast Asia and Asia Pacific region, we are still faced with traditional challenges, such as potential conflicts due to border disputes and regional claims. We are also still facing various non-traditional challenges,

The challenge has a direct impact on the security and welfare of the people in the region. We realize that these various problems can trigger new tensions, and have an impact on joint efforts to create the ASEAN Community and cooperation in the Asia Pacific region," said SBY welcoming Indonesia's independence day at the DPR/MPR Building as quoted on the first news page, August 16, 2012.

This achievement made North Universiti Malaysia attracted. They then wanted to give SBY an award for his contribution to become a peace figure in the ASEAN region. Efforts to award an honorary doctorate are planned.

At its peak, SBY was given an honorary Honoris Causa doctorate in the field of peace leaders on December 19, 2012. The gift was made at the King's Palace in Kuala Lumpur. SBY was also happy not to play. He was happy that his work in maintaining peace was noticed by many parties.

I feel proud to be the first Indonesian to receive this honorable title. I also feel proud to be joining a number of important figures such as Margareth Thatcher, Tun Dr. Mahatir Muhammad, and Tun Abdullah Badawi who have received similar awards.
