Minister Teten Encourages Women To Lead In The MSME Sector

JAKARTA - Minister of Cooperatives and SMEs Drs Teten Masduki said that 60 percent of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) are still dominated by mothers. Teten made the term The Power of Mothers need to be encouraged so that they can contribute to national economic development.

The development of MSMEs, especially for mothers, is needed because they are still constrained by low profits when compared to men.

There are three factors that cause MSME actors to not be able to achieve significant benefits, namely because they are engaged in unproductive areas, then the use of technology is still low and on a home scale.

"Women are taller and more creative than men, but to take advantage they are still superior men," said Teten Masduki.

The proposal from Teten, in order to increase its business benefits, female MSME actors must be encouraged to enter the productive sector. This sector, continued Teten, is still identical to men. One of them is the agricultural and plantation sectors.

"These two sectors need to be looked at, which are still controlled by men," said Teten at the Central PWI Office, Kebon Sirih, Central Jakarta, Wednesday, February 7.

Meanwhile, the General Chairperson of the Central PWI, Hendry Ch Bangun, appreciated the support from Teten who was willing to attend the MSME National Dialogue event organized by PWI.

Hendry said the existence of cooperatives and MSMEs had been tested in maintaining national economic stability.

"However, the existence of Cooperatives and MSMEs has been tested during the past crisis era, they are the ones who survive," said Hendry Ch Bangun.

Present at the event were the General Chairperson of the Central PWI Hendry Ch Bangun, the Secretary General of PWI Sayid Iskandarsyah, the Chairperson of the Women's Darma of the Ministry of Investment/BKPM Mrs. Sri Suparni Bahlil Lahadalia.
