The Tuntang River Overflows, Floods Paralyze Grobogan-Semarang Road

The high intensity of rain in the Grobogan Regency area has made the Tuntang River overflow. The overflow of the river had an impact on the main Grobogan road to Semarang and on the other hand was completely paralyzed.

The worst flood point submerged in the Gubug intersection area, Gubug District, Grobogan Regency, Central Java Tuesday, February 6. This flood occurred due to the overflow of the Tuntang River due to the high intensity of rain in Grobogan Regency since Monday night.

The heavy flood that overflowed onto the road, made the road divider talud not far from the bridge burst because it was unable to withstand the swift water. In addition to the high flood inundation on the road which reached about 50 centimeters, the traffic to Grobogan Regency to Semarang and vice versa was completely paralyzed.

Grobogan Regency Transportation Service officer, Joko Jatmiko said, the flood caused by the overflow of the Tuntang River occurred at around 04.30 WIB. Suddenly the water immediately overflowed onto the streets. Officers at the location also asked the vehicle to turn around because the puddles were flooded and the shoulder of the road collapsed quite dangerous.

"There is rain upstream, water rises at around 4.30 WIB. That's because the river overflows. The river cannot accommodate the ari discharge from upstream," said Jiko Jatmiko.

One of the residents of Nur Rosikin admitted that she was forced to hit the flood because it was the only road. As a result, his motorbike broke down and could not continue the journey back home.

The same thing was said, Iwan, he said that from Semarang to Grobogan the road was quite long. Many motorbikes that hit were forced to turn off the engine.

"The Semarang-Purwodadi road is jammed, it can't be passed. I'm from Semarang going to Godong, yes, I'm waiting for the live machine to continue my journey," explained Iwan.

Until, Tuesday afternoon, traffic at the location was still completely paralyzed and could not be passed. Users are asked to pass other alternative roads.

In addition to crippling roads, the flood also submerged hundreds of residential areas. However, until now the Grobogan Regency BPBD is still conducting further data collection.
