JAKARTA - Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reiterated his target of eliminating the militant group Hamas, saying he was reluctant to agree to any deal at any price.

Speaking at the start of the government's weekly meeting in Tel Aviv, PM Netanyahu appeared to make overthrowing Hamas his main war goal.

"I want to make our policy clear, the main goal is to eliminate Hamas," he said, as reported by The Times of Israel, February 5.

The prime minister then outlined three conditions for this to happen, namely the destruction of the remaining Hamas battalions (17 of 24 of which had been defeated), the clean-up operation, which he said was carried out by the IDF through raids in the northern and central Gaza Strip, and the neutralization of the Hamas tunnel network, "which takes more time."

PM Netanyahu stressed that Israel will not end the war until all its goals are achieved, "eliminating Hamas, repatriating all our hostages and ensuring that Gaza will no longer be a threat to Israel."

Regarding a possible hostage deal, PM Netanyahu said, "We will not agree to any deal and not at any price."

He added that reports in the media regarding the agreement to release a large number of terrorists were not true.

It is known that efforts to end the conflict in Gaza continue to be made by various international parties. Most recently, the Paris Summit attended by Israel, the United States, Egypt, and Qatar which ended last week, showed progress in the talks.
