Arya Wedakarna Fired From DPD Member, Case Of Alleged Blasphemy Is Still Being Processed By The Bali Police

Bali Police are still processing the Bali Ulema Council (MUI) report against Arya Wedakarna alias AWK on reports of alleged blasphemy. Arya Wedakarna is fired from DPD members as of today.

"The position of the report is still under investigation and includes examining expert witnesses," said Head of Public Relations of the Bali Police, Kombes Jansen Aviatus, Friday, February 2.

Three witnesses who have been examined are the complainant, the party from Angkasa Pura who participated in the meeting with AWK as well as the Bali Customs and Excise

"The next plan this week is to examine two witnesses from Customs and Excise, namely Nia and Prince, who are the reasons for holding RDP and examining witnesses from the Bali Province FKUB, related to the consequences of the post on religious harmony," he said.

In addition, the Bali Police will also ask for opinions from linguists and criminals regarding AWK's statement.

"Finally, we will examine expert witnesses and there have been several experts who have been examined again in the deepening process, basically they are still in the process. There are linguists, criminal experts, whether his expressions are from grammar onwards and so on and and criminal experts are still being followed up. The points are that all reports, both as reported and what were reported, are being investigated by the Bali Police and the ranks," he said.

The Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police previously transferred the handling of the alleged blasphemy case with the reported member of the Regional Representative Council (DPD) Arya Wedakarna (AWK) to the Bali Police.

Arya Wedakarna was reported by the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) of Bali Province to the Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police regarding a statement alluding to the use of the hijab for Muslim women.

Arya Wedakarna had gone viral on social media because he was suspected of alluding to the use of the hijab for Muslim women.
