Pangdam: 18,287 Troops Secure Election TPS In East Java

SURABAYA - Commander of Kodam V/Brawijaya Major General TNI Rafael Granada Baay stated that 18,287 troops were alerted to secure 118,708 polling stations (TPS) for the 2024 General Election spread throughout East Java.

"We must ensure that the election process takes place peacefully, safely and in an orderly manner so that order can be realized properly," said TNI Major General Commander Rafael Granada Baay at the 2024 Election Security Forces Ceremony at the Makodam Field in Surabaya as reported by ANTARA, Thursday, February 1.

The Military Commander also conveyed the message that the TNI Commander as a soldier must be able to maintain integrity and professionalism.

In addition, the TNI has a very strategic role in maintaining the smooth and safety of implementation in dealing with election security tasks.

"As a TNI soldier, you must always prioritize the interests of the nation and state, and uphold democratic values of justice and diversity in the midst of increasingly complex development of social and political dynamics," he said.

The former Paspampres commander also invited all soldiers of Kodam V/Brawijaya to increase vigilance and maintain togetherness in carrying out election security tasks.

"You must always be prepared in facing all possibilities and challenges that may arise by prioritizing proportional actions and prioritizing the interests of the community," he said.

"The security of the election is interesting together, all of them unite to maintain unity and integrity and uphold the values of Pancasila," added the Pangdam.

Meanwhile, East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa, East Java Police Chief Inspector General Imam Sugianto, Commander of Koarmada II Surabaya, Commander of Infantry II/Kostrad Division and Commander of Airbase Abdulrachman Saleh Malang were also present.

Governor Khofifah conveyed the importance of the role of security and synergy of Forkopimda in efforts to create a safe, peaceful and conducive 2024 election.

"Synergy, collaboration is also very important to build together to create common vigilance to make the 2024 General Election a safe, peaceful, comfortable and conducive success in East Java," he said.
