2 Round Presidential Election, Golkar Claims Not To Be Afraid Of The Formation Of The Anies-Ganjar Coalition

The General Chairperson of the Central Leadership Council (DPP) of the Golkar Party, Airlangga Hartarto, said that the Forward Indonesia Coalition (KIM) supporting Prabowo-Gibran was not worried about the issue of the formation of a new coalition between candidate pairs (paslon) number 1 Ganjar Pranowo and 3 Anies Baswedan. "The party that supports Pak Prabowo Gibran is 45 percent, so we are not worried," said Airlangga when met at the Pullman Hotel, Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), quoted by ANTARA, Sunday, January 14. According to him, currently the coalition behind Prabowo-Gibran is very strong. The electability of the two is also considered stable ahead of Anies-Muhaimin and Ganjar-Mahfud.Airlangga believes that the coalition that was formed between candidate pairs number 1 and 3 will not hinder Prabowo-Gibran's victory one round in the presidential election later. When alluding to the opportunity to communicate with one of the opponents to build a coalition, Airlangga admitted that he had not planned it. "The important thing is now to win first the general election (election) of legislative members and presidential/vice elections (pilpres), after that he just spoke again," he said.

Previously, the Indonesian KPU had determined the participants of the 2024 Presidential and Vice Presidential Elections (Pilpres), namely the Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar pair number 1, Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka number 2, and Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud Md. serial number 3. KPU has also determined the campaign period from November 28, 2023 to February 10, 2024, then the voting schedule on February 14, 2024.
