Buket Seller In Cilacap Arrested For Using Fake Money From Roti Paper

CILACAP - Cilacap Police Satreskrim arrested a man with the initials BY (41) a fake money printer and dealer in Kesugihan Kidul village, Kesugihan District, Cilacap Regency.

Cilacap Police Chief Kombes Pol Ruruh Wicaksono said the case of the circulation of counterfeit money was uncovered from public reports that there was a crime of counterfeiting money.

After being investigated, the ranks of the Cilacap Police Satreskrim sniffed out the place for printing counterfeit money produced in one of the houses in the Cilacap Kesugihan area.

"The house found counterfeit money printing tools, including several pieces of counterfeit money, and secured the perpetrator with the initials BY, who is an immigrant from Jember, and has been in Cilacap for 8 months," said the Cilacap Police Chief in a written statement, Monday, January 8.

The Cilacap Police Chief explained that initially the perpetrator was a seller of a bouquet of specimen money, then the perpetrator was offered a friend on Facebook a job.

"Friends on Facebook offer a job making a bouquet with old money specimens, the person concerned was scared. However, he ended up doing the job and was pulled into a Facebook group. There the suspect received many orders for making a bouquet containing money," he said.

The perpetrator was also taught by his online friends by making counterfeit money which used to use ordinary HVS paper, taught to use bread paper. In approximately 4 months, the perpetrators have received approximately Rp11 million in cash.

The perpetrator sold the counterfeit money with a ratio value of 1:7.

"So one sheet of real money of Rp. 100,000 was exchanged for 7 pieces of counterfeit money of Rp. 100,000," said the Police Chief

At the TKP, the police managed to secure evidence of printers, paper cutting tools, glue in the form of sprays, raw materials for bread paper, and 372 counterfeit notes in 50 thousand denominations and 443 counterfeit notes in 100 thousand denominations ready for distribution.

As a result of his actions, the perpetrators were charged with Article 36 paragraphs 1, 2 and 3 of Law number 7 of 2011 concerning currency Jo Article 244 of the Criminal Code with a maximum imprisonment of 10 years and a maximum fine of 10 billion.

The Cilacap Police Chief appealed to the public to be careful in using social media.

"We never know what will happen and if we find out or see something odd, we can immediately report it to the police," concluded the Police Chief
