MAKASSAR - The Regional Police (Polda) of South Sulawesi Province released the incident of a convict at the Class IIB Correctional Institution (Lapas) Takalar Regency named Yoran Pahabol (43) who died due to illness at the Dadi Makassar Regional Special Hospital (RSKD). Police confirmed that Yoran's death was due to illness.

"Regarding a detainee in a criminal case at Class IIB Takalar Prison, he died due to a decrease in consciousness and symptoms of stroke. Regarding the death of this prisoner due to illness," said Head of Public Relations of the South Sulawesi Police, Kombes I Komang Suartanadi Makassar, as reported by ANTARA, Thursday, December 21.

From the information received before Yoran died, medical treatment was carried out at the Prison Clinic and then went to RSUD H Padjonga Daeng Ngalle Takalar.

Due to his declining condition, he was referred to the Stroke Center of the Dadi Makassar Regional Special Hospital (RSKD) until he finally died at the hospital.

"The treatment chronology began to get sick on November 10, 2023. He complained of fever and was immediately treated at the clinic by prison officials. On December 14, he was again checked for his health and at that time the convict was installed with an IV for four days to increase his immune system," said Komang.

Furthermore, on December 17 at 09.07 WITA the condition of the convict decreased and was referred to RSUD H Padjonga Daeng Ngalle Takalar for treatment for four days.

On Thursday, December 21, 2023 at 00.15 WITA, he was referred to Dadi Hospital in Makassar.

However, during the treatment period at the hospital, at around 04.00 WITA, Thursday, December 21, 2023, he was declared dead. At 10.55 WITA, Yoran Pahabol's body was taken to the Grestelina Hospital in Makassar for cremation.

"If we look at a decrease in endurance and a stroke was found before he died. He has been taken for treatment many times and eventually died. This is death due to illness, there is no element of persecution, there are no elements of violence in detention," he asserted.

The convict who was born in Jayapura in 1980 was arrested for a criminal case of Makar. Yoran Pahabol was sentenced to two years and six months in prison and was an inmate for Class IIB Takalar prison.

Meanwhile, the Head of Class IIB Takalar Ashari Prison stated that he was a transferred prisoner from the Makassar Class IA Prison. His party was surprised to hear the news that his inmates were declared dead at the Dadi Makassar Hospital.

Before he died, Ashari said, on December 6, 2023, he was with the pastor in prison, the next day he called his family. After that, he started to get a little unwell by complaining of illness and then being treated at the prison clinic. Initially he felt hot, had a headache and fever and then went to the clinic to be given medicine.

"He is a very good person, very diligent. In that prison he often does activities. We were shocked, and hit hard by Mr. Yoran's death. Indeed, Yoran when he entered (Takalar Prison) was already sick," he said.
