2,803 Joint Personnel Secure Christmas And New Year In Riau

A total of 2,803 joint personnel, from the police, TNI, the Search and Rescue Agency, the Regional Disaster Management Agency to other stakeholders were prepared to secure Christmas 2023 and New Year 2024.

Riau Police Chief Inspector General Mohammad Iqbal and Governor Edy Natar Nasution in an assembly for troop deployments, checking personnel in the field, including equipment and all facilities used during the operation.

"We have prepared 36 security posts and 18 service posts. We may add them because we see the current dynamics of the weather in the field," said Inspector General Iqbal as quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, December 21.

All personnel who took part in the operation were ready to work. His party also saw the dynamics based on estimates from the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency.

"This morning we are preparing to carry out readiness and we are ready. All stakeholders, both the Police, TNI, Regional Government and all of them are ready. There are 2,803 personnel, we can also add this if there is a disaster dynamic," he explained.

Specifically for the Riau-West Sumatra and Riau-North Sumatra routes, Iqbal admitted that the two routes were of serious concern, because both were included in the natural disaster map in the middle of the rainy season with high mobility.

"We know mobility will be high during Christmas and New Year. The West Sumatra and North Sumatra routes are our priority because there are landslides. Therefore, all security posts are there, we will be ready with all possibilities," he said.

Meanwhile, for the security of Christmas and New Year, Iqbal said a number of community organizations and youth leaders had also been involved. In addition to collecting all the resort police, the regent and mayor had to sit down together.

"We ask youth and Islamic organizations to protect the church together because tolerance in Riau is high," he said
