JAKARTA After the turn of the year, Apple immediately changed the list of products that fall into the vintage or outdated category. There is one new device added, namely the Apple Watch Series 4.

This smartwatch was released in September 2018. When it was first introduced, this device was in demand because of its redesigned appearance from the previous generation. The screen is made bigger, the bezel is thinner, and the angle is more created.

The Apple Watch Series 4 uses stainless aluminum and steel materials of two different sizes, namely 40mm and 44mm. The last operating system (OS) for this device is watchOS 10.

Apple will update its old list of products if the devices they create have not been distributed for more than five years or more. Meanwhile, the list of outdated products contains devices that have not been distributed for more than seven years.

Apple Watch Series 4 is on the first list because it is still getting an update in 2023. Apple released watchOS 11 in September last year so that the renewal support for this smartwatch has ended.

Now, the smartwatch that Apple thinks is still worth using is the Apple Watch Series 5 or later. In fact, devices that fall into the vintage product category can still be used as usual, but their safety is not as good as it used to be.

This device is still working and will not be turned off by Apple, unless the device is in trouble. However, it's a good idea to buy a newer device because devices without security support will be easier to hack.
