JAKARTA - United States Muslims launched a campaign opposing President Joe Biden's bid for re-election in the 2024 elections because of his support for Israel in the war against the Palestinian group Hamas.
A group of Muslim leaders from Michigan, Minnesota, Arizona, Wisconsin, Florida, Georgia, Nevada and Pennsylvania gathered over the weekend in Dearborn, Michigan to launch the campaign. The campaign aims to encourage voters to withdraw their support for Biden because of his "reluctance" to call a cease-and-desist weapons and protecting innocent people in Palestine and Israel," according to the group's statement as reported by ANTARA from Anadolu, Monday, December 4.
According to the media site Axios, the anger of Arab-Americans and Muslim-Americans could hurt Biden's chances of re-election in most of the states still up in the air in 2024, which he won in 2020.
The group emphasized that Muslim community leaders can collaborate to ensure Biden's defeat in these states.
Jaylani Hussein, one of the organizers, said the #AbandonBiden campaign will focus on social media for now.

Hussein acknowledged the potential for not supporting Biden and the impact it would have on society in the years to come.
“We recognize that in the next four years, our decisions may put us in even more difficult times. But we believe this will give us a chance to recalibrate, and Democrats will have to consider whether they want our votes or not. ," he said.
Axios highlighted the importance of Muslim-Arab voters in those states, pointing out that even a small portion of Muslim voters joining the anti-Biden bloc could complicate the situation for the Democratic Party in several key states based on the results of the 2020 presidential election.
