TANGERANG Welcoming the fast-growing digital era, the Swiss German University (SGU) officially launched a new study program, Digital Communication and Media Arts (DCMA), on Saturday, November 23. This program is designed to produce a young generation who is ready to answer challenges and take advantage of opportunities in the world of digital communications.
The inauguration ceremony of DCMA took place with the presence of digital industry expert, Donny BU, Expert Staff of the Minister of Communication and Digitalization (KOMDIGI), and well-known content creator, Reza Nangin. Their presence provides inspirational insights into the digital world to students and invitees.
The Dean of the Faculty of Economics, Business and Communication of SGU, Nila Krisnawati, explained that the DCMA program is designed to answer the needs of professionals in the field of digital communication, creative content production, and the use of technology such as artificial intelligence (AI) and big data.
Digital evolution has changed the way we communicate, consume information, and interact socially. The DCMA program aims to equip students with practical skills and innovative mindsets to compete in a dynamic world of communication, "said Nila.
The program also offers dual degree in collaboration with Ming Chuan University (MCU) in Taiwan, which is recognized internationally in the field of *Journalism and Mass Communication*.
"We hope that this collaboration opens up golden opportunities for students to develop themselves as well as strengthen the quality of digital communication learning," added Nila.
Head of the DCMA Study Program, Loina Lalolo Krina Perangin-Angin highlighted the high penetration of the internet in Indonesia which reached 79.5% or around 210 million users, with 60% of them active on social media. This makes Indonesia one of the largest digital markets in the world.
"The DCMA program is here to answer industrial needs as well as provide a strong foundation for students who want to have a career in the digital communications sector," said Loina.
DCMA students will follow the 2+2 innovative curriculum, where the first two years of learning at SGU and the next two years at the MCU, Taiwan. They will study with modern facilities, including the labs media, and attend full English classes.
The learning fields offered include Digital Content Creation, Media Psychology, Digital Marketing, Multimedia Production, to Microfilm Commercials.
