Sabo Dam Claimed By Acting Regent To Be The Solution To Overcome The Kudus Wonosoco Flash Flood

The existence of a savo dam building along the river to Wonosoco Village, Undaan District, Kudus Regency, is a medium-term solution for the management of the flash flood disaster in Wonosoco Village.

"From the plan to build five Sabo dams, for now there are only three pieces that are one of the medium-term solutions to tackle flash floods in Wonosoco Village," said Acting Regent of Kudus Bergas C. The stage was quoted by ANTARA, Friday, December 1.

It's just that, he said, the existence of the sabo dam that has been built at this time, there needs to be maintenance efforts from sedimentation. When the sedimentation is already high, it needs to be cleaned up with mutual cooperation and village spirit.

When the Sabo dam building is completed, he added, its effectiveness is estimated that it will only apply between one and two rainy seasons, then there needs to be periodic maintenance so that it can function optimally.

"If the sedimentation has never been overcome, then the sabo dam will also be leveled with the river floor so that the function of preventing the water from flowing heavily during the rainy season cannot be maximized," he said.

Rainy water flows to Wonosoco Village, he said, indeed from the Kendeng Mountains area in three districts, namely Kudus, Grobogan and Pati Regencies.

Meanwhile, the results of air monitoring, he added, in the mountains that enter the neighboring area are indeed bald, so that it becomes a problem when it rains, it immediately falls down without any barriers because there is no greening tree. Meanwhile, Sabo dam which should have been able to reduce flooding also experienced sedimentation.

"For this reason, we invite people in Wonosoco Village to jointly normalize their sabo dam from increasingly severe sedimentation, so that flash floods in Wonosoco Village do not happen again," he said.

The results of a report from BPBD Kudus, Wonosoco Village experienced two flash floods, namely on Friday (24/11) night and Saturday.

In addition to relying on sabo dam, the long-term solution to overcome flash floods in Wonosoco Village, which occurs almost every year, is to plant trees. Meanwhile, in the Wonosoco Village area, there have been efforts to reforestation, but in neighboring districts there is no public awareness to do the same.

Considering that the impact of flooding is not felt by residents in neighboring districts, but in Kudus Regency.

The Kudus Regency Government has also tried to establish communication with the provincial government, including coordinating with neighboring districts to jointly handle floods, one of which is planting trees in the Kendeng Mountains area. Because this shared awareness is the key to success in preventing potential flooding in Wonosoco Village which has been affected so far.
