JAKARTA - A total of 30 Palestinian prisoners and 12 hostages in Gaza agreed to be released on Tuesday, as the Hamas-Gaza ceasefire in the Palestinian enclave entered its fifth day, officials said.

Qatari Foreign Ministry spokesman Majed al-Ansari wrote on Twitter that 12 hostages in Gaza and 30 Palestinian prisoners were released as part of the ceasefire agreement on the fifth day.

"The Palestinians released from Israeli prisons consist of 15 minors and 15 women," tweeted al Ansari on social media X, as quoted on November 29.

"The hostages released in Gaza today numbered 12 people, 10 Israeli citizens and two foreign nationals. They were handed over to the ICRC," he wrote.

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) said it succeeded in facilitating the release and transfer of 12 hostages freed by Hamas on Tuesday.

"Our team has successfully facilitated the release and transfer of 12 hostages held in Gaza. We were able to carry out this operation thanks to the role of our neutral intermediaries," they wrote on X.

This was the first release after the two sides agreed to extend the ceasefire that ended Monday for two days, after the first agreement reached last week provided a four-day pause in fighting from Friday.

Yesterday, Israel and Hamas accused each other of violating the ceasefire, related to the clashes that occurred in Gaza.

Before Tuesday's release, the details of those released successively consisted of 24 hostages and 39 detainees (Friday), 17 hostages and 39 detainees (Saturday), 17 hostages and 39 detainees (Sunday) and 11 hostages and 33 detainees (Monday), quoting CNN.
