Heavy Rain Triggers Landslides In 3 Districts In Sukabumi

SUKABUMI - The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Sukabumi Regency explained that heavy rains that occurred on Sunday, June 26 and Monday, (27/11) triggered landslides in three sub-districts in Sukabumi Regency, West Java.

"There were no casualties in this landslide incident, it's just that residents whose houses were affected by the disaster had to evacuate due to damage," said Sukabumi Regency BPBD Public Relations official Sandra Fitria, quoted by ANTARA, Monday, November 27.

As for the information gathered from BPBD, landslides on a cliff with a height of four meters and a length of eight meters in Tegallega Village, RT 02/05, Munjul Village, Ciambar District caused damage to the kitchen and central space as a result of being carried away by landslides.

As a result, the two heads of families or six people who lived in the house had to evacuate, because their houses could no longer be used. The survivors' losses are still being collected.

Then the landslide in Cimapag Village, RT 08/08, Cireunghas Village/District damaged two houses. At the beginning of this incident Hasanah's house, which was inhabited by two people, was on a cliff carried by landslides in the kitchen.

Incidentally, under the cliff there was a house, namely Asep's, which was inhabited by four people, so that the house material carried by the landslide hit the kitchen of the house under it. As a result of this incident, all residents whose houses were affected were displaced.

Furthermore, the cliffs with a height of four meters, four meters wide and five meters long in Pojok Village, RT 02/06, Bojonglongok Village, Parakanslak District threatened a resident's house inhabited by two people. However, for fear of further landslides, the occupants of the house chose to evacuate.

Sandra said the potential for a hydrometeorological disaster in Sukabumi Regency was quite high because from information from the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) heavy rains were predicted to fall in the next few days.
