Flood-affected Residents In Nagan Raya Aceh Refuge To The Highlands

NAGAN RAYA - Hundreds of residents in Beutong Ateuh Banggalang District, Nagan Raya Regency, Aceh, reportedly fled to the highlands after their villages were hit by floods originating from the river flow on the mountain.

Samsuardi, a resident of Beutong Ateuh Banggalang, Nagan Raya Regency, Aceh, explained that the people in the highlands had fled to the mountains.

"Hundreds of residents have started to flee to a safe place, for fear of becoming victims of flash floods," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, November 27.

"Currently, people from two villages have started to evacuate due to flooding, namely residents of Babah Suak Village and Kuta Teungoh Village, Beutong Ateuh Banggalang District, Nagan Raya Regency, Aceh," said Samsuardi.

The Head of BPBD Nagan Raya, Aceh, Irfanda Rinadi was contacted separately explaining that there had been no reports of casualties due to the disaster, and his party had alerted personnel at the scene.

He said that the natural disaster that occurred was thought to be due to the high rainfall that has hit the area since the last few days.

There are two villages that are currently affected by the flood, namely Babah Suak Village and Kuta Teungoh Village, Beutong Ateuh Banggalang District, Nagan Raya Regency, Aceh.

"This is not a flash flood, but a flood whose water has fallen from the river on the mountain," he said.
