Mount Anak Krakatau Returns To Night Eruption

South LAMPUNG - Mount Anak Krakatau, which is located in the waters of the Sunda Strait, South Lampung Regency, Lampung Province, erupted again at 20.38 WIB.

The height of the ash column was observed to be about 300 meters above the peak or about 457 meters above sea level.

Reported by ANTARA, Monday, November 27, the eruption of Anak Krakatau was recorded on a seismogram with a maximum amplitude of 65 millimeters and a duration of approximately 1 minute 20 seconds. The ash column was observed to be gray to black with thick intensity to the northwest.

Head of the Mount Anak Krakatau Monitoring Post in Hargopancuran, Rajabasa District, South Lampung, Andi Suardi said the closest settlement of Mount Anak Krakatau is on Sebesi Island, which is 16.5 kilometers away.

Andi appealed to the public and fishermen not to approach the Mount Anak Krakatau area at a radius of five kilometers.

"Currently Mount Anak Krakatau is at level III, on standby, with the recommendations of the community, fishermen, mountain climbers, not approaching the mountain with a radius of five kilometers," he said.

One of the residents of Sebesi Island village, which is adjacent to the Mount Angga Angga child, said that he and local residents felt panicked by the sound of a bang from the eruption of Mount Anak Krakatau.

"Earlier at around 20.00 WIB, there was a sound of another bang from Mount Anak Krakatau," said Angga.

Angga said the sound of the boom began to be heard on Sunday morning, then local residents on Sebesi Island were always vigilant.

Mount Anak Krakatau has experienced an eruption 14 times from November 26 to November 27 evening.
