The Medan District Attorney has arrested a former Chancellor of the State Islamic University of North Sumatra (UINSU) with the initials S who is a fugitive in the alleged corruption case of the 2020-2021 ma'had fund program.

"We made arrests of S in Medan on Monday afternoon," said Head of the Special Crimes Section of the Medan Kejari Mochammad Ali Rizza, quoted by ANTARA, Monday, November 27.

This arrest is based on the letter of determination of the wanted list (DPO) Number 1543 dated August 3, 2023 which has named S as a suspect in the alleged corruption case in the levy of funds for UINSU students in 2020 2021.

"In this case, the Medan District Court and defendant E (Beharana Pusbangnis UINSU) and defendant S (Head of UINSU Pusbangnis) have been tried," said Ali Rizza.

The three defendants have already undergone their trial with the agenda of examining witnesses.

"Activities when he was a DPO, S traveled to Java, Jabotabek and other areas of North Sumatra with certain matters," he said.

After this arrest, said Ali Rizza, Defendant S will be presented to trial at the Medan District Court.

"We are still seeing the progress of the trial, if there are other alleged involvement (perpetrators), it is possible that the suspect will be named with at least two pieces of evidence," said Ali.

Former UINSUberinitials S is suspected of committing a criminal act of corruption, resulting in state financial losses of around Rp956,200,000.

The three perpetrators in this alleged corruption case were charged with Article 2 paragraph (1) subsidiary Article 3 in conjunction with Article 18 of Law Number 31 of 1999 as amended and added to Law Number 20 of 2021 concerning Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph (1) of the 1st Criminal Code.
