JAKARTA - The number of poor people in North Jakarta fell 0.06 percent thanks to the integration of all parties in encouraging the revival of social and economic activities after the COVID-19 pandemic.
"Poverty is down in North Jakarta thanks to the work of all teams and not only the government, but also the people who are most dominant in caring about poverty alleviation," said North Jakarta City Secretary Abdul Khalit, Antara, Friday, October 10.
This was conveyed by Abdul after the sowing of flowers in the context of the Commemoration of Heroes' Day at the stern of KRI Dr. Radjiman Wedyodiningrat in Jakarta Bay, Friday.
According to data, the poverty profile for North Jakarta north of March 2023 released by the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of North Jakarta City in November 2023, the number of poor people decreased by 7,740 people in the March 2023 period compared to March 2022, which amounted to 133,730.
The number of poor people in North Jakarta in March 2023 was recorded at 125,980 people.
"This is certainly still the biggest challenge for the government to eradicate in the coming month period," he said.
According to BPS Kota Jakarta Utara (Jakut), the poverty line in the coastal city of Jakarta is IDR 684,557 per capita per month. The standard consumption rate in the 2023 poverty line is still higher at IDR 39,126 than March 2022.
As for 2022, the average consumption standard in the poverty line is IDR 645,431.
North Jakarta City Secretary Abdul Khalit together with North Jakarta Metro Police Chief Kombes Pol Gidion Arif Setyawan, Commander of Kodim 0502 North Jakarta Colonel Kav Tofan Tri Anggoro, Tanjung Priok Port Police Chief AKBP Ferikson Tampubolon performed a flower sowing in Jakarta Bay in commemoration of Heroes' Day.
The commemoration of Heroes' Day has the theme "The Spirit of Heroes for the Future of the Nation in Combating Poverty and Ignorance".
"This year's Hero's Day is said to be 'cutting poverty and ignorance'. The reflection is of course because this is a fundamental problem, it needs to be a contribution, it needs collaboration," said Abdul.
He said the sowing of flowers was the right moment for the next generation to reflect on the spirit of the heroes who succeeded in raising the fighting spirit of the Indonesian nation.
"The heroes in Surabaya do not fight individually, but work together or so on are said to be collaborating," he said.
As an effort to alleviate poverty, according to Abdul, the DKI Provincial Government has provided Cash Social Assistance (BST) to 210,344 poor people in North Jakarta so that people can get protection and social security.
As for efforts to fight ignorance, he said, one of the three launched by the North Jakarta City Government was increasing digital literacy through collaboration with North Jakarta Journalists.
"There are three things we want to achieve, the first is character awareness, the second is increasing competence and the third is digital literacy," he said.
