MAKI Duga Firli Bahuri Uses KPK Bus Roadshow Activities To Avoid Examination

JAKARTA - KPK Chairman Firli Bahuri did not fulfill the summons for examination by Polda Metro Jaya on the grounds that he participated in the KPK Bus Roadshow. The Indonesian Anti-Corruption Society (MAKI) suspects that the activity was just an excuse.

"So in my opinion, this (KPK Roadshow Bus activity) is just an excuse to avoid summoning today," said MAKI Coordinator Boyamin Saiman in his statement, Tuesday, November 7.

The allegation refers to data from the Anti-Corruption Education Center which displays the schedule for the KPK Bus Roadshow. Terada, the activity in Aceh, Balee Meuseuraya Aceh, is planned to take place from November 9 to 12.

Referring to the data, Boyamin assessed that Firli Bahuri could fulfill the summons for examination. This is because the KPK chairman can go and participate in a series of events after giving information.

"Based on data, the KPK bus roadshow starts from 9 to 12 (November). So Mr. Firli should be able to leave tomorrow afternoon or even morning," he said.

Boyamin also mentioned the KPK's statement which emphasized that Firli Bahuri's reason was not far-fetched.

Because, with this data, it is very clear that KPK Chairman Firli Bahuri can still follow the examination process on November 7.

"In fact, what makes it up is indeed the KPK leadership with all these activities," said Boyamin.

On the other hand, regarding the validity of the KPK Roadshow Bus schedule data, Boyamin emphasized that he could account for it. The data is said to be obtained from a reliable source.

"I can account for it because it is from a trusted source. It can be tracked on the KPK Education Center Web," said Boyamin.

Meanwhile, the Head of the KPK News Section, Ali Fikri, who was questioned or confirmed about the data did not provide a response.

As previously reported, the KPK confirmed that Firli Bahuri would not fulfill the summons for the examination of Polda Metro Jaya investigators on November 7. The reason is because of official activities.

"There are activities in Aceh in the context of the KPK Bus Roadshow and also Hakordia in Aceh," said Head of the KPK News Section Ali Fikri.

Ali confirmed that the anti-corruption commission had sent a letter to the Polda Metro Jaya. Because Firli could not be present considering that he was out of town.

"I've sent a letter to confirm that's the absence. So it can be distinguished, friends between absent and confirmation," he said.
