BANYUMAS - Banyumas City Police (Polresta) investigators have so far examined 12 witnesses related to the glass bridge vehicle incident which resulted in a tourist's death after falling due to a broken glass sheet.

"So far, 12 witnesses have been examined, including witnesses who own bridge rides at the crime scene," said Head of the Banyumas Police Criminal Investigation Unit, Police Commissioner Agus Supriadi Siswanto, quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, October 26.

He said this was on the sidelines of the crime scene (TKP) carried out by the Semarang Branch Forensic Laboratory Team (Labfor) on the "The Geong" glass bridge ride, HPL tourist area.

Based on initial information from the owner, he said, it was known that the glass bridge was built by the owner and his employees for 11 months and there was no feasibility test from the related parties.

In addition, he said, no adequate security system was made in writing so that visitors could use it as a guide and read it when entering the vehicle as an effort to prevent accidents.

"The initial information from the owner of the vehicle will be analyzed," he said. Regarding the possibility of negligence, he said that the Labfor Team is currently working to check the type of glass used, glass classification, and the feasibility of the glass bridge construction.

He also gave an example of several parts that were checked by the Forensic Laboratory Team, including the size of the glass used.

"What we studied at the TKP was that the glass thickness was about 1.2 centimeters, then the width (each side length, ed.) was around 118 centimeters. We will check this, then what kind of laboratory results, which should be installed in the composition of the size, later it will be explained by Labfor together with the construction experts we brought in," he explained.

Regarding the operations of the HPL tourist area, he said it was temporarily closed until the crime scene was completed.

When asked about one victim who was injured, Kasatreskrim said that until now he is still being treated at the hospital.

"His condition is starting to stabilize but is still undergoing medical treatment due to a hip fracture," he said.

According to him, the incident of breaking the glass sheet on the ride resulted in four tourists falling, two of whom were caught or hanging on the bridge frame despite abrasions, while two others fell to the ground.

He said one of the tourists who fell to the ground had a hip fracture, while another person died.
