National Police Chief Orders Propam To Intervene In Assistant For SYL Extortion Cases

National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo said Bareskrim and Propam were included in the assistance team for handling cases of alleged extortion carried out by the leadership of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) against former Minister of Agriculture Syahrul Yasin Limpo or SYL. The assistance team will be involved in every stage of investigation.

"At every stage, accompany. Bareskrim, Propam, I ask to step down (assistance in handling SYL extortion cases)," Sigit told reporters, Tuesday, October 17.

The purpose of deploying an assistance team is so that the handling of the case runs according to the rules. Thus, all the results of the investigation, including the determination of the suspect, can be accounted for.

"Every stage that goes on is really professional. That's what I'm of course asking so that everything can be accounted for," said Sigit.

Previously, the Head of the Public Relations Division of the National Police, Inspector General Shandi Nugroho, said that Bareskrim had deployed the Directorate of Corruption Crimes (Dittipidkor) as an assistance team for handling cases of alleged SYL extortion.

The case was originally handled by the Directorate of Special Criminal Investigation of the Metro Jaya Police. Currently, the status of the case has been investigated in stages.

"Currently, the Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police has been assisted by the Directorate of Corruption, and has been actively from the start from investigation to investigation," said Shandi.

For information, the progress of handling this case, Polda Metro Jaya has examined 23 witnesses at the investigation stage.

Several witnesses who have been questioned are Syahrul Yasin Limpo and Semarang Police Chief Kombes Irwan Anwar. They were questioned at the beginning of the case going up to the investigation stage.

Then, investigators have also examined Kevin Egananta, Friday, October 13. He is an ADC or an aide to the Chairman of the KPK, Firli Bahuri.
