YOGYAKARTA Finding money at the official residence of the Minister of Agriculture (Mentan) Syahrul Yasin Limpo reached a total of Rp30 billion. The findings are strongly suspected to be related to corruption cases that occurred within the Ministry of Agriculture. The details of the money confiscated from Syahrul Yasin Limpo's house also consist of rupiah and foreign currencies.

As is known, the KPK conducted a search at Syahrul Yasin Limpo's official residence on September 28-29, 2023. The KPK also conducted a search at the Minister of Agriculture's private house in Makassar on October 4. The search itself was carried out on suspicion of corruption.

According to information submitted by the KPK spokesman, Ali Fikri, the KPK found a value of approximately Rp. 30 billion consisting of foreign currency and rupiah with the following details.

After the KPK's search of Syahrul Yasin Limpo's official residence and private house was in the spotlight, it was later revealed that there was an alleged extortion committed by the KPK leadership against Syahrul Yasin Limpo in order to reduce the handling of corruption cases.

Not only that, a photo was also circulated showing a meeting between KPK Chairman Firli Bahuri and Syahrul Yasin Limpo at the Tank Sports Building (GOR), Jakarta. According to the rumors circulating, extortion occurred during the meeting. The extortion case is currently being handled by Polda Metro Jaya and has gone up to the investigation stage.

Responding to the case, Firli Bahuri said that the accusation was not true. He suspects that the photos and narratives were deliberately distributed in order to bring down the KPK.

So many corruption cases are being resolved by the KPK. It is very possible that corruptors are united in carrying out attacks, what we know is when the corruptor strike back. But we will definitely reveal everything," explained Firli in a press release, Monday, October 9.

Firli also ensured that there were no legal cases when the meeting took place. This was reinforced by the meeting place that was chosen in an open area.

"The meeting at the Badminton Field between me and the Minister of Agriculture at that time, Syahrul Yasin Limpo, occurred before that period, precisely on March 2, 2022 and that was also a crowd in the open," explained the Chairman of the KPK.

Firli also explained that when the meeting was held, SYL was not a person who had a case at the KPK, not a suspect, a defendant, or a convict. He also emphasized that the meeting did not take place on initiative or interest from him.
