The Rise Of Bullying Cases Accompanied By Violence: Kak Seto Hopes The Government Forms Anti-Bully Task Force In Every School

JAKARTA There have been cases of bullying that have recently occurred in a number of areas. Many of the victims were students, who were still underage at the elementary school (SD) to public high school (SMU) level. Tragically, the cases of bullying that occurred were not verbal, but physical violence.

As it is known, the act of bullying accompanied by physical violence was experienced by junior high school students in North Jakarta, recently. As a result of the violence, the victim was reluctant to come to school.

Although the teacher has mediated and agreed that the case is not brought to the realm of law. However, the victim experienced deep trauma which had an impact on the psychological.

Bullying accompanied by violence also occurred in Cilacap, Central Java. A junior high school student was abused by his schoolmate until he suffered a broken bone in his body. The act of persecution went viral on social media, resulting in criticism from various parties.

The police also took action by securing the perpetrator at his home. Even though he is still a minor, the police are still processing the case by paying attention to regulations related to children in conflict with the law.

Cases of bullying against children, or students get special attention from children observers. Chairman of the Indonesian Child Protection Agency (LPAI), Seto Mulyadi or who is familiarly called Kak Seto, asked the Education Office to immediately form an Anti-Bully Task Force. With the aim that there will be no more similar cases in the school environment.

Kak Seto assessed that children in Indonesia have extraordinary imitation traits. Because, by looking at or knowing, they will follow suit. So, if children are often shown scenes of violence, both physically and verbally, it is possible to imitate them.

"It is formed by the Anti-Bully Task Force in schools. Because the child is the best imitator, because the child imitates, imitates, it is possible to see or become a victim of violence. Or see adult violence", said Kak Sato to VOI, Wednesday, October 4.

According to Kak Seto, the Anti-Bully Task Force can be filled by teachers, school committees and parents of students. This is a form of supervision of children so that they are not involved in violence, let alone criminal acts.

"With that hope (the establishment of the Anti-Bully Task Force). Consisting of teachers, school committees, and school parents, OSIS (Intra-School Student Organization) and the local education office", he said.

He hopes that the local Disdik will be active in intensifying the Anti-Bully Task Force. So that Indonesian children are free from violence in the environment and outside the school.

"So the education office must be active in schools calling this school free from violence", he concluded.
