LBH Ansor Confirms Will Report Religious Politicization In The 2024 Election To Bawaslu

JAKARTA - Chairman of the central Ansor Legal Aid Institute (LBH) Abdul Qodir stated that he was ready to report allegations of religious politicization in the 2024 General Election.

"One that has the potential to trigger conflict is politicization of religion. History has taught that politicization of religion will only bring about the dispute between humanity and the destruction of civilization," he said in Jakarta, Monday, October 2, which was confiscated by Antara.

He explained that the 2024 election is an important momentum for the journey of the Indonesian nation. The future of democracy in Indonesia will depend on the quality of the implementation and the results. Given the importance of election success, he said, LBH Ansor saw the need to carefully oversee the course of the democratic party.

"People who find the use of religion as a political tool or politicization of religion can convey to the LBH Ansor office at 170 points throughout Indonesia, so that we can assist and guard their reporting to the election supervisor," he said.

LBH Ansor believes that elections must be carried out in a luber and jurdil manner. However, what is no less important is efforts to maintain peace in every stage of the election implementation. Therefore, all potential things that trigger conflict must be avoided.

Qodir hopes that election contestants must comply with the rules of the game and be responsible for maintaining unity and peace of life together.

"All election contestants, especially candidates for presidential and vice presidential candidates, should never politicize religion for the sake of lust for power," he said.

Qodir explained that LBH Ansor saw that the symptoms of religious politicization were increasingly visible, especially when someone wanted to make a house of worship a space for political campaigns, even though the rules of the game were very strict to prohibit.

LBH Ansor, said Qodir, based on the instructions of the General Chairperson of PP GP Ansor, will help oversee the supervision of the 2024 General Election by reporting to Bawaslu and his staff in the regions.
