5 Witnesses In The Lukas Enembe Kompak Mangkir Bribery Case From The KPK Call

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) said the five witnesses who should have been summoned to investigate the bribery of former Papua Governor Lukas Enembe were absent. They compactly did not provide any information to the investigative team.

"These witnesses were not present and also the investigative team has not yet received confirmation regarding the reasons for his absence," said Head of the KPK News Section Ali Fikri to reporters in a written statement, Tuesday, June 4.

Ali detailed that the five witnesses who should have been summoned by investigators were Mutmainah Aminatun Amaliah, who is the Director of PT RDG Airlines Indonesia and four private sectors, namely Hendri Utama, Rizky Agung Sunarjo, Bayu Chandra, and Syukri.

They were supposed to undergo an examination on Monday, June 3 yesterday at the KPK's Red and White Building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta. Furthermore, investigators will reschedule.

Ali reminded these witnesses to fulfill the investigator's summons. Their information is needed so that the briber Lukas Enembe can be held accountable for his actions.

"KPK reminds (the witnesses, ed) to be cooperative in attending as the schedule is being rescheduled by the investigative team," he said.

Previously reported, the KPK is currently investigating the alleged bribery of Lukas Enembe, who is the former governor of Papua. In total there were two suspects, but one of them, Piton Enumbi died.

He was declared dead for medical reasons based on a certificate issued by the Jayapura Provita Hospital on Thursday, May 30.

Meanwhile, Lukas Enembe had also died before the case had permanent legal force. He was found guilty in the case of alleged bribery and gratuities related to infrastructure project work in Papua Province.

As a result of his actions, Lukas was sentenced to 8 years in prison and a fine of Rp. 500 million, subsidiary to 4 months in prison. He also had to pay compensation of Rp. 19.69 billion, subsidiary to 2 years in prison.

Then, Lukas was also sentenced to an additional sentence in the form of revocation of political rights for 5 years after serving his sentence.

The Jakarta Corruption Court Panel of Judges said that Lukas was proven to have received bribes of up to Rp17.7 billion. One of them is from Piton Enumbi, who is the owner and director of PT Melonesia Mulia, PT Lingge-Lingge, PT Astrad Jaya, and PT Melonesia Cahaya Timur worth Rp10.4 billion.
