Overcoming Constraints On Subsidized Fertilizers, Moeldoko Encourages Farmers To Use Alternative Fertilizers

SUKABUMI - Presidential Chief of Staff, Moeldoko encouraged Indonesian farmers to independently find a way out in dealing with the problem of subsidized fertilizers, namely by processing compost as an alternative. This was conveyed by Moeldoko in his dialogue with farmers in Kadu Nunggal Village, Sukabumi, West Java on Wednesday 20 September. Moeldoko also mentioned that not all farmers get subsidies because the budget is not sufficient. Agricultural culture here is very good, although there are still complaints about subsidized fertilizers. I want these farmers to think about solutions, organic fertilizers can be an alternative," said Moeldoko. The General Chairperson of the Indonesian Farmers Harmony Association (HKTI) also explained that in addition to the ability of the state that has not been evenly distributed in providing subsidized fertilizers, the world's political temperature climate also affects the price of fertilizers which become expensive. For that it is necessary to think about alternative fertilizers, because it is impossible for agricultural sources to stop because of fertilizer problems. If farmers give up it will make it difficult for all parties, said Moeldoko. On that occasion, farmers complained about the price of vegetables destroyed due to access to damaged roads. Moeldoko assessed this needs to be addressed immediately because harvest products in the form of vegetables must be fast in distribution. I will communicate related ministries, said Moeldoko.

Meanwhile, one of the representatives of the Paskat Sejahtera farmer, Abdul Aziz, said that there is a business unit that has started producing compost. Through this business unit, farmers are starting to be fostered so that they can produce alternative fertilizers that are easy so that agricultural sources can continue to run. Here 99% of the farmers' profession, of course we want farmers to be empowered," said Abdul.
