KKP Overvisory Vessel Grants From Japan Bertolak Towards Indonesia

JAKARTA - The Orca 06 Supervisory Ship (KP), which is the second grant ship from the Japanese Government, has departed from the Peigata Shipyard shipyard, Japan to Indonesia.

Director General of Marine and Fishery Resources Supervision (PSDKP), Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) Adin Nurawaluddin said KP Orca 06 will strengthen the eradication of illegal fishing and strengthen supervision, especially in the next Indonesian State Fisheries Management Area (WPPNRI) 711 Natuna Sea.

"KP Orca 06's supervisory ship, previously known as Shirahagi Maru, will strengthen supervision at WPP 711 North Natuna Sea," Adin said as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, September 20.

Adin, who also directly released the ship's departure, which has been perfected in Japan, said that this ship is the largest ship owned by the KKP after KP Orca 05 which arrived in Indonesia on June 19, 2023.

He also appreciated the Japanese government for the cooperation that was well established so that Indonesia received the ship grant with a length of 63 meters.

"We express our deepest appreciation to the Japanese Government, hopefully the cooperation between the Government of the Republic of Indonesia and Japan, especially in the area around the Sulu Sea (Celebes Sea) and its surroundings will increase through strengthening law enforcement capabilities and contributing to realizing a free and open Indo-Pacific,"

As previously reported, the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) released a total of 26 people to introduce or familiarize components and shipping of Orca 06 vessels (KP) from Japan to Indonesia.

The crew of the marine and fisheries monitoring vessel (AKP) consists of 24 AKPs accompanied by 2 staff from the Directorate General (Ditjen) of Marine and Fishery Resources Supervision (PSDKP) as facilitators, and will depart from Jakarta to Japan on Sunday (20/8).

Meanwhile, AKPs began carrying out introductory activities from August 22 to September 13, 2023 at the Niigata shipyard Association,NIAgata Province, Japan through theoretical and practical programs.

After the introduction was held, the AKPs by riding KP Orca 06 would depart from Niigata to Jakarta on September 14-26 2023 or for 13 days with a distance of approximately 4,000 nautical miles (NM).
