Megawati Soekarnoputri And Gloria Arroyo Exchange National Thoughts

JAKARTA - The 5th President of the Republic of Indonesia Megawati Soekarnoputri received a visit from the 14th President of the Philippines, Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, at her residence on Jalan Teuku Umar, Menteng, Central Jakarta.

During the meeting, the two women, former leaders of the two member states of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), exchanged ideas and information about nationality in Asia and globally.

The warm atmosphere also enveloped the meeting of the two, greeting each other and giving them warm hugs.

"Hello, welcome. Come on, sit down," Megawati invited Gloria as reported by ANTARA, Friday, September 15.

While talking, Gloria appreciated Megawati Soekarnoputri's role and position for the world. Gloria also asked about Megawati's opinion about the condition of Indonesia, the region, and the world.

"What do you think about the progress in the future?" asked Gloria.

The conversation between the two took place behind closed doors. However, according to information received in Jakarta, Friday, the atmosphere was cheerful and relaxed throughout the meeting.

Ahead of the end of the meeting, Gloria gave a souvenir that she brought directly from the Philippines. Megawati also prepared a souvenir in the form of batik cloth for Gloria. After exchanging souvenirs, Megawati and Gloria took a group photo.

After the photo session, Megawati and Gloria, who were both the president's ex-sons, walked out of Teuku Umar's residence. The two of them held tight while talking slowly.

Gloria pun invites Megawati to come visit the Philippines.

"We look forward to your presence in the Philippines," said Gloria.

Megawati said she was invited to attend the 70th anniversary of the Indonesia-Philippine friendly relationship.

Arroyo arrived at Megawati's residence at around 13.00 WIB. Also accompanying Megawati in the meeting included North Sulawesi Governor Olly Dondokambey and Minister of Law and Human Rights (Menkumham) Yasonna Laoly.

Also present was Marzuki Darusman and senior diplomatRajiv Narayan, where the two of them together with Gloria recorded their activities at the International Commission Against Death Penality (ICDP).
