List Of 6 Indonesian Representatives At BWF World Tour Finals 2024

The men's singles badminton player Jonatan Christie in the final of the 2024 China Masters (doc. PBSI).

JAKARTA Indonesia has six representatives who will play in the BWF World Tour Finals 2024. The six are spread across five sectors.

The season-ending tournament, which is only attended by the world's top eight badminton player, will take place in the second week of next month, to be precise 10-15 December 2024, at the Hangzhou Olympic Sports Center, Hangzhou, China.

This is the seventh edition of the event since it first took place in 2018. This year, the total prizes won were 2.5 million dollars or equivalent to Rp39.6 billion.

Jonatan Christie of the men's singles is the last representative to ensure that he qualified there following in the footsteps of his colleagues after he reached the final round of the China Masters 2024 last week.

This is Jonathan's fourth time playing in the event after the 2019, 2022, and 2023 editions. His best achievement on the previous three occasions was to become a semifinalist in the two latest editions.

Five representatives before Jonathan who had passed were Gregoria Mariska Tunjung, Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto, Dejan Ferdinansyah/Gloria Emanuelle Widjaja, Sabar Karyaman Gutama/Mohammad Reza Pahlevi Isfahani, and Febriana Dwi Puji Kusuma/Amallia Cahaya Pratiwi.

This is the first appearance, aka the debut of the two last pairs. Dejan is also a debutant in this tournament, but different from Gloria, who appeared in 2018, 2019, and 2020 with her partner at that time Hafiz Faizal.

The journey of Indonesia's representatives in the previous six editions was not recorded smoothly. So far, only the men's doubles pair Hendra Setiawan/Mohammad Ahsan have won the title.

The Daddies took the CHAMPION podium in the 2019 edition which took place in Guangzhou. At that time, they locked the title after beating the Japanese representative, Hiroyuki Endo/Yuta Watanabe.
