Xiaomi Develops Mid-Range Phones With 7000mAh Battery And Snapdragon 8s Elite

JAKARTA - Xiaomi is reportedly preparing to launch a mid-range smartphone with a large 7000mAh battery. This information comes from a recent leak by the Digital Chat Station, a trusted tipter. This phone will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Elite processor or 8s Gen 4 (SM8735), designed for performance balance and energy efficiency.

Snapdragon 8s Elite, the successor to Snapdragon 8s Gen 3, is said to have made a significant improvement over its predecessor, although its performance is not equivalent to a flagship chipset. This chipset is also more affordable, making it suitable for devices in the mid-range segment.

To support large-capacity batteries, these phones will be equipped with 90W fast charging. While not being the fastest on the market, this speed is enough to recharge the battery in a short time. However, wireless charging features will likely miss this model.

Previously, Xiaomi was also reportedly testing battery and charging configurations up to 7500mAh capacity with 100W fast charging. However, the name of the model and branding of this device is still a mystery. Speculation leads to the Redmi series, most likely Redmi Turbo 4 Pro or Redmi K90, based on the model number SM8735 found in this year's HyperOS software.

Meanwhile, Xiaomi is preparing to launch the Redmi K80 series in China on November 27, 2024. This series includes two models, namely the Redmi K80 and K80 Pro, which offer up to 6500mAh batteries with 120W of fast charging. Both are equipped with premium 2K AMOLED 2K screens with a peak brightness of 1800 nits and TryptV Rheinland eye protection features.

The Redmi K80 Pro carries a Snapdragon 8 Elite processor with an Oryon core, as well as a 50MP camera triple system with optical zoom. While the Redmi K80 is supported by Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 and a 50MP main camera. Both devices also offer IP68/IP69 durability, premium design with Dragon Crystal Glass, and ultrasonic fingerprint sensor.

Although still in the form of rumors, this Xiaomi phone with a 7000mAh battery shows the company's steps to continue to deliver innovations in the mid-range market, especially for users who need extraordinary battery life.
