Bali Police Name 9 Suspects For Resort Destruction In Karangasem

DENPASAR - Investigators from the General Criminal Investigation Directorate of the Bali Regional Police have named nine residents as suspects in the destruction of the Detigan Neano Resort in Bugbug Village, Karangasem Regency, Bali.

The Head of Public Relations of the Bali Police, Kombes Jansen Avitus Panjaitan, stated that the determination of the nine suspects was carried out on Thursday, September 7, 2023.

"Nine witnesses have met the requirements to be raised to suspect status," said Jansen, Monday, September 11.

Jansen explained that the determination of the suspect was carried out after previously conducting a case title. Of the 10 witnesses examined by investigators from the Bali Police General Criminal Investigation Directorate, nine people were declared eligible to be suspects.

The nine suspects are IKA, IWM, GA, PS, IKHS, IWW, IGAHA, KS and NKP. The nine people were suspected of having different articles against IKA, IWM, GA and PS investigators against Article 187 of the Criminal Code and or Article 170 of the Criminal Code in conjunction with Article 406 of the Criminal Code and Article 167 of the Criminal Code in conjunction with Article 55 of the Criminal Code.

Meanwhile, the other suspect was charged with Article 170 of the Criminal Code jo. Article 406 of the Criminal Code and/or Article 167 of the Criminal Code Jo. Article 55 of the Criminal Code.

"Furthermore, investigators will conduct an examination of the suspect," said Jansen.

The suspects were charged differently according to different roles such as entering someone else's yard without permission, damaging property belonging to another and burning.

During the determination of the suspect Thursday (7/9) there were 10 people who were examined by investigators as witnesses, while dozens of Bugbug residents, Karangasem packed the Ngurah Rai Sports Hall to provide support to the residents being examined.
