China Mobile, one of the largest telecommunications operators in China, has begun to prepare a 6G network with AI as its main technology. This step shows that the competition for the next generation network is no longer only relying on speed, but also intelligence.

Launching a report by China Daily, quoted Thursday, June 25, China Mobile introduced a new strategic vision at the World Mobile Congress Shanghai 2026. The company is placing artificial intelligence or AI at the center of research and development of the next generation network.

China Mobile Chairman Chen Zhongyue said the meaning of "mobile" is no longer limited to mobile communication. The term also includes mobile computing and mobile AI. This change shows how AI is starting to become a major part of the development of telecommunications technology.

"The AI revolution is reshaping production and daily life, giving operators unprecedented growth space and deeper service capabilities," said Chen.

China Mobile is building an ecosystem of smart services for consumers and industries. For households, AI will be applied to sports, cultural, and financial services. Devices that are prepared include AI-based smart phones, smart glasses, to humanoid robots.

Its business unit, Migu, is also developing an AI agent for the 2026 World Cup. An AI agent is an artificial intelligence system that can perform certain tasks, not just answer questions. In the event, the system will process match data in real time into visual tactical analysis so that viewers can more easily understand the course of the match.

In the industrial sector, China Mobile developed the Tiangong industrial internet platform to support the steel, manufacturing, and energy industries. In cooperation with one of the steel companies, intelligent visual monitoring technology is used to replace human observation at the mouth of the furnace so that the production process switches from experience-based to data-based.

Chen said the service is supported by two main technologies. First, MobileClaw, an AI agent framework that equips the system with various capabilities to perform tasks. Second, MoMA, a platform that provides more than 300 AI models for companies with a safe and reliable system.

According to China Daily, China Mobile is also accelerating the development of 5G-Advanced networks, 10 gigabit optical networks, as well as space and ground integrated networks.

The development of 6G is directed to meet the needs of AI in various fields, such as industrial automation, telemedicine, and low-altitude economics. This term refers to economic activities that utilize low airspace, such as drones, flying taxis, and short-distance air logistics services.

China Mobile is also building a large-scale intelligent computing center-based integrated computing network. This infrastructure is designed to support the training of AI models and the deployment of AI agents.
