3 Junior High Schools In Cianjur Affected By The 2022 Earthquake Still Learning Teaching In Tents

CIANJUR - The Department of Youth and Sports Education (Disdikpora) of Cianjur Regency noted that three junior high schools were still holding teaching and learning activities in tents.

Head of the Cianjur Regency Disdikpora Junior High School Division, Helmi Halimudin, said that of the 30 junior high schools damaged by the 2022 earthquake, 26 junior high schools had returned to study in class.

"SMPN 1 Cugenang, SMPN 3 Cianjur, and SMPN 5 Cianjur are still in the construction process so that around 1,000 students are still learning in tents. For other schools, they have finished, just waiting for the handover from the Ministry of PUPR," he said in Cianjur, Monday, September 4, which was confiscated by Antara.

A total of 26 junior high schools are just waiting for the handover from the Ministry of PUPR. Meanwhile, 3 junior high schools that are still learning to teach in tents are still in the construction process.

While waiting for the handover of around 26 junior high schools whose construction has been completed 100 percent, the teaching and learning process can be used normally in class, so that no more students study in the tent.

As for the three junior high schools whose construction has not yet been completed, said Helmi, his party asked the principal to ask the Ministry of PUPR to complete at least 10 classrooms for large schools so that students do not study in tents.

"We from the office also ask the construction implementers to complete the classroom first so that no more students study in the tent with the hope that in the next two months the construction of schools will be damaged by the complete earthquake," said Helmi.

He explained that the construction of supporting rooms such as libraries, laboratories, business procedures, school principals and teachers can be completed after all the classrooms needed by each school can be used for the teaching and learning process.

However, his party cannot target the construction to be completed quickly, and can only ask the implementing party to complete construction as soon as possible up to 100 percent by prioritizing the construction of classrooms.

"If the construction of the class is done, the students will not be disturbed and can undergo the teaching and learning process calmly. Later, other supporting buildings will only be taken care of, because it will soon enter the rainy season, sorry if they are still in a tent," he said.
