Hasto Kristiyanto: Republic of Indonesia's 78th Independence Day is a New History of Indonesian and World Civilization

JAKARTA - PDI Perjuangan (PDIP) Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto said that the 78th Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia (RI) is a milestone for the new history of Indonesian and world civilization.

"Today we commemorate the 78th anniversary of Indonesia's independence. An important event that is a milestone for the new history of civilization in Indonesia and the world," Hasto said while delivering the message at the commemoration ceremony for the 78th Indonesian Independence Day at the PDIP DPP Party School, Jakarta, Thursday.

According to Hasto, independence is an important milestone in determining the fate of the nation and the country in the future. He said the independence of the Republic of Indonesia taught the importance of an idea and ideas for the future of Indonesia which were driven by a reliable leader.

"The independence of the Republic of Indonesia teaches the importance of an idea, an imaginative idea for the future of Indonesia which is driven by a leader who is able to voice all struggles, go down, take root, is visionary, and is able to formulate a path of progress," he said.

He also said that the 78th Indonesian Independence Day was a momentum to remind all parties that future Indonesian leaders would have an honest character.

"Because if you're not honest, ladies and gentlemen, there will be a scent of politics. That is our spiritual belief as a nation that believes in God," said Hasto.

Furthermore, Hasto quoted the message of the first President of the Republic of Indonesia Soekarno that the spirit of unity with the people is a great weapon. Therefore, he asked for the unity of the Indonesian people to be strengthened through the commemoration of the 78th Indonesian Independence Day.

"Let's strengthen people's unity, fight for us together, we build politics that is civilized, full of kindness, educating the nation's life and promoting general welfare, so that we are able to inflame the ceasefire of progress for our Great Indonesia," he added.

On that occasion, Hasto acted as an inspector for the 78th Indonesian Independence Day commemoration ceremony at the PDIP Party Central Executive Board (DPP). The ceremony started at 07.50 a.m. Western Indonesian Time (WIB) after previously the carnival was held at 07.20 a.m. WIB.

Also present at the ceremony were the Chairperson of the PDIP DPP Ribka Tjiptaning, Mindo Sianipar, PDIP Deputy General Treasurer (Wabendum) Rudianto Tjen, Chair of the PDIP faction of the House of Representatives (DPR RI), Utut Adianto, as well as the Party DPP Agency and Wings, South Jakarta PDIP Party Branch Executive Board (DPC), and PDIP DPP Secretariat.
