Wearing A Wheelchair, Russian Caucasians Ex-Deported Accident Prisoners From Bali

DENPASAR - Bali Immigration deported a foreign citizen (WNA) from Russia, a former inmate who had occupied the Class II-A Kerobokan Penitentiary, Badung, due to a traffic accident.

"Based on the court's decision with permanent legal force, IG has committed a criminal act so that Immigration has the authority to carry out administrative actions in the form of deportation," said Denpasar Babay Babanullah, Head of Immigration Detention Center (Rudenim) in Denpasar as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, August 16.

The foreigner with the initials IG was deported at his own expense through I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport, Bali, to Shremetyevo International Airport in Moscow, Russia.

Using a wheelchair, IG was escorted by three Immigration officers and Denpasar Rudenim for the deportation process.

According to him, the IG violated Article 75 Paragraph 1 of Law Number 6 of 2011 concerning Immigration.

The article states that Immigration officials are authorized to carry out immigration administrative actions against foreigners who are in Indonesia who carry out dangerous activities and should be suspected of endangering security and public order or not respecting or disobeying the laws and regulations.

Based on Immigration data, IG entered Indonesia on November 18, 2022 via Soekarno Hatta International Airport, Jakarta, using a Visit Visa.

A day in Indonesia, IG drove a car and had a traffic accident, crashing into a foreigner from the United States in North Kuta, Badung Regency and the victim was seriously injured.

The victim then reported the IG to the authorities, but he was only temporarily detained for six days.

During the inspection process, IG was again involved in a traffic accident on February 8, 2023 in the Uluwatu area, Badung Regency, which caused him to break his hands and legs.

After being discharged from the hospital, he had to continue his legal process and was sentenced to six months in prison.

The judge assessed that IG was legally and convincingly proven to have committed a criminal act for neglecting to drive a motorized vehicle, causing a traffic accident that resulted in serious injuries to others.

After languishing in a prison cell, on August 10, 2023, IG was then released from Kerobokan Prison and handed over to Immigration Ngurah Rai Bali.

"Given that the deportation process cannot be carried out immediately, Immigration Ngurah Rai handed over IG to the Denpasar Immigration Detention Center on the same day for detention and further deportation is sought," said Babay.

Based on data from the Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights of Bali Province, the number of foreigners deported from Bali was 201 people during the period January to August 7, 2023.

Meanwhile, in 2022, 188 foreigners were expelled from the Island of the Gods for committing immigration violations.

The causes vary from violating residence permits, abusing residence permits, criminal acts to violating norms in Bali.
