A Number Of Districts In Semarang Affected By El Nino, BPBD Distributes 100 Clean Water Tanks

The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Semarang City has so far sent at least 100 clean water tanks to areas experiencing drought due to El Nino's impact.

"The total is approximately 100 tanks according to our ceiling," said Head of BPBD Semarang City Endro P Martanto, in Semarang, Central Java (Central Java), Tuesday, August 15, as reported by Antara.

According to him, there are a number of areas that are priority for the delivery of clean water aid, including Rowosari in Tembalang District, Jabungan (Banyumanik), Gondoriyo (Ngaliyan), to Genuk District.

For clean water requests, he said, BPBD is always open to receiving residents' requests through an introductory letter from the Neighborhood Association (RT/RW) confirmed by the village.

"The average (demand) is indeed an area that needs (drought)," he said. "This means that currently BPBD concentrations for clean water assistance first," he said.

He said the stock of clean water in the Semarang City BPBD was running low, so his party opened the company and industry CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) network.

"As of August the second week, the position of reserve stock (clean water) in BPBD or from the APBD (Regional Revenue and Expenditure Budget) is very low. If I may say there are only four stocks left," he said.

From the company and industry, Endro admitted that someone had agreed to send clean water assistance as a backup if there were people in need.

"Because of our prediction (impact) El Nino until next September. That alone could be more," he said.

"This (CSR company) has been recorded, whenever on call, this model is sent. Approximately 30 tanks have been sent. We hope (stok) until this rainy season is enough," he said.

In addition, Endro also appealed to people in areas prone to drought to be wise in using clean water, by prioritizing household needs.

"I urge the public to wisely use water, especially to meet household needs first. Cook, drink, that's it. Especially, areas that are black zones (drought)," he said.
