Says Goodbye To Sambarata River Looking For Fish, Syamsuddin Suddenly Disappears

SAMARINDA - The Search And Rescue (SAR) Team or the Search and Rescue Team of the Berau Regency Unit, East Kalimantan, together with related parties are still searching for a fisherman who is suspected of missing in mangroves since last Monday. "This morning there was a report from a resident named Rama Harmaza that Syamsuddin (67) was suspected of missing in the mangrove forest of the Sambarata River, Tasuk Village, Gunung Tabur District, Berau Regency," said Head of Balikpapan City Basarnas Melkyanus Kotta when contacted from Samarinda, Antara, Tuesday, August 1. The chronology of the alleged missing is on Sunday, July 30. Syamsuddin, who lives in Gayam Village, Tanjung Redeb District, said goodbye to his family to go to the Sambarata River by boat. However, until last Monday morning the victim had not yet returned. The family then went to the Sambarata River, where the victim used to look for fish. However, at that location only a boat was found tied to a tree and a cellphone on the boat. Considering that the victim's family had searched various directions but did not find Syamsuddin, the family immediately reported the incident to the Gunung Tabur Police, which was then forwarded to the Berau Basarnas Alert Unit. After receiving a report from the victim's family, continued Melki, the Berau Unit SAR Team immediately coordinated with the victim's family and moved to the location shown by the victim's family. The elements involved in this search are the Berau SAR Alert Unit Rescue Team, Gunung Tabur Police, Berau Police Polairud, Ditpolairud Polda Kaltim, Pos TNI AL Berau, Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) Berau, and the families of the victims.

"Meanwhile, the equipment units used for the search include rescue car Dmax, rigid inflatable boat (RIB), speedboat Ditpolairud, speedboat Polair Polres Berau, speedboat TNI AL, underwater searching device, communication equipment, and complete water SAR equipment," said Melki.
